Overheard at wes instagram

In 2018, one of my friends and I decided that we had heard too many funny things while we were walking around campus to let them go unheard, so we created the Overheard@Wes Instagram account. In the following two years, we watched it explode to over 1,300 followers, one of the most popular Wesleyan-themed Instagram accounts out there today.

black lives matter

Angela Davis has inspired me, and just as her quote says, I felt like I had the responsibility to do something to change the things I couldn’t accept. I felt powerless when I couldn’t join the national marches due to Covid-19 concerns, so I chose to spread awareness in my local community, a majority white neighborhood. I designed 10 compelling posters, all with different themes, resources, and quotes, and handed them out in my neighborhood or posted them in local parking lots and acceptable storefronts. In an effort to make it easy and user-friendly, I also created unique QR codes for each website or resource.

DONATION QR CODES

I was able to track how many people scanned each QR Code using an online system. To my estimates, with around 10-15 people scanning each code, the posters were successful in not only spreading awareness and educational resources, but it also raised an estimated $500 for the various linked organizations.
